The Marsh Violet illustrates the ongoing problem of changes of name in the scientific community. Southern Appalachian Wildflowers site uses the name Viola cucullata. Obliqua is the current name and cucullata is a variant of the same plant. We are using the latest revision, Viola obliqua.
